It has been a busy summer for Trees for Dorset, with our volunteers attending events across the county and meeting lots of people interested in Dorset’s trees, woodlands and wildlife.

Our summer started at the Dorset Spring Show in Puddletown, followed by Warmwell Village Fete in July.

August was particularly busy, with the Melplash Show, where we were delighted to come third in the Best Small Stand competition, followed by a full weekend at Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard.

September continued with the Dorset County Show, Morval Studland Tea and Cake and finally Discovery Fest in Swanage.

Across the summer, our stands have given us the opportunity to talk about the many different areas of Trees for Dorset’s work, including tree planting, our schools projects, coppicing, nursery and seed collection, volunteering and our Rare Tree Recovery Project.

Our Leaf & Seed Competition has also been popular at several events, giving children, and quite a few adults, the opportunity to test their tree identification skills.

Thank you

A big thank you to everyone who came to visit us at one of our events this summer. Whether you stopped for a chat, took part in an activity, asked us a question or expressed an interest in volunteering or supporting Trees for Dorset, it was lovely to meet you.

We have received lots of enquiries and offers of support and are working hard to follow these up. We hope to have contacted everyone within the next few weeks.

If you visited us at an event and have any further information to share, have a question or haven't heard from us yet, please email info@treesfordorset.co.uk.

We would also like to thank all of our volunteers who helped with setting up, staffing our stands and packing everything away. These events wouldn't be possible without your help.
