Trees for Dorset at Oak Fair 2026
Trees for Dorset had a busy weekend at Oak Fair at Stock Gaylard Estate on 29 and 30 August, with plenty of visitors stopping by our stand throughout the two days.
Our volunteers were on hand to talk about the work Trees for Dorset carries out across the county, from tree planting and conservation to our schools work, nursery and seed collection, coppicing and rare tree recovery projects.
The stand included examples of young trees, information about our different projects and ways people can get involved. It was a good opportunity to meet people interested in Dorset’s trees and woodlands, as well as landowners and potential new volunteers.
Our Leaf & Seed Competition also gave younger visitors – and quite a few adults – the opportunity to test their tree identification skills.
A big thank you to everyone who came over for a chat, picked up information or asked about getting involved. We’d also like to thank all of the Trees for Dorset volunteers who gave their time to set up, staff the stand throughout the weekend and pack everything away afterwards.
Events such as Oak Fair are an important opportunity for us to share what Trees for Dorset does and meet people from across the county who care about Dorset’s trees, hedgerows and woodlands.
