We have planted trees at sites throughout Dorset and have also provided grants, planting assistance, and advice at many others.

Our principal conditions are that we usually plant native trees, and that planting sites are either accessible to or visible by the public. A guiding principle of our tree planting is “the right tree in the right place”.

Our level of involvement can vary. Members are welcome to volunteer and gain hands-on planting experience. Planting takes place in the winter months, usually at two or three sites, and offers a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to take part in creative conservation.

During the summer, work parties help maintain the planted sites by clearing weeds, brambles, and—when necessary—removing tree supports and protective sleeves.

At Milborne Woods, children from the My Life, My Tree project at Milborne School planted their own trees, followed by members planting additional trees to fill an open area within the wood.
